TAKE THE COURSE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR HPE TEACHERS
Currently working as an HPE teacher & interested in gaining your Gym Instructor & PT qualification?
As you have already completed modules from Cert III & Cert IV as a part of your PDHPE qualification, your study will be fast tracked and you will only complete specified aspects of each Certificate to become a fully qualified, nationally recognised Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer.
This is the first and only course designed for HPE teachers to obtain the Certificate III and IV in Fitness. AFA have mapped the skills and knowledge of the PDHPE teachers to determine the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning).
This is a practical professional development course that will enable you to conduct personal training sessions part-time around your job if you wish – an excellent additional revenue stream.
You will also be further enabled to assist your students, as you will be fully qualified to instruct fitness programs in your school.
Note that for NSW teachers the course is NESA accredited and will contribute towards your professional development hours.
For recognition of prior learning, we will require the following documents to receive exemptions from the Certificate III and IV in Fitness. If you can please scan and email through the following documents:
- Physical Education degree or equivalent qualification – copy of the academic transcript including the subjects completed
- Current first aid certificate – the likely unit code is ‘HLTAID003 Provide First Aid’
- Letter from Principal or Department Manager (on school letterhead) confirming current teaching role or Teacher’s Registration certificate
As soon as everything is received your space on the workshop will be confirmed, and you will receive confirmation with the exact address and times 1 week prior to the first workshop.
You can complete any of the Certificate III and IV workshops in any order, at a time suitable for you. For the remaining study on the Certificate IV, you can complete you studies through our online learning platform.
We encourage you to view a sample of our course resources by logging onto https://afa-elearning.mywisenet.com.au . Please click on ‘Example Courses’, then ‘Sample Course’. The username is ‘sample’ and the password ‘sample’.
Please contact us to discuss course fees.
If you are paying for the course fees yourself, all we would require is small deposit ($300) and the remaining balance can then be paid off for a minimum of $50/week, (as a minimum) throughout your course.
If your school is able to pay for, or towards the professional development workshops, we can easily arrange this.
Each workshop is capped at 15 teachers, and due to the limited number of dates these get booked out extremely quickly. Having recently set up a partnership with ACHPER, all of our workshops throughout the year are close to capacity, so please enquire to secure your spot!
The course can be completed by attending two workshops for the Certificate III in Fitness qualification (workshops 1 & 2), and a further two workshops with a small amount of online study for the Certificate IV in Fitness qualification (workshops 3 & 4).
