First Aid Training is a requirement for employment in many workplaces and is also a component of the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness.
By completing HLTAID003 Provide First Aid – including HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), you will develop the following skills:
- Competence and confidence in responding to emergency situations and providing first aid.
- Casualty assessment and calling for assistance as needed.
- Decision making and delivering basic life support functions including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and children.

Course Overview
This course is completed through a combination of online study and participation in a practical workshop at our Melbourne facility. The online component takes approximately 4 hours to complete and must be submitted prior to the practical workshop. It is assessed via a series of quizzes.
The workshop runs from 9am – 4pm and is a very practical session including role-play and real-life scenarios relevant to a fitness and sport setting. It allows you to consolidate what you have learned in the online component in a ‘hands-on’ manner.
The workshop includes CPR using manikins and the identification of appropriate first aid responses for different emergency scenarios that may occur in everyday life, while exercising or on the sporting field/court.
Your practical skills are assessed progressively throughout the day. You will need to have the physical capability to perform CPR on the floor in order to obtain the qualification.
HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Refresher Course
Complete the HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Refresher Course every 3-years to keep your qualification and fitness industry registration up-to-date. The refresher course runs in the same way as the full course, with students completing an online component prior to attending a full day of Practical Training.
Students registered with Fitness Australia are eligible to receive 3 CECs for successful completion of this course.
Updating Your CPR
The CPR component is required to be updated every 12-months to keep your qualification and fitness industry registration current. To remain updated, you’ll need to complete an online quiz and participate in a 3-hour practical workshop.
