what is the course structure
This hybrid course includes a series of online interactive videos and PowerPoint presentations with a quiz-style assessment accessed via our Online Learning Portal.
In addition, there is also Practical Placement, documented via a logbook, which provides a great opportunity to put your knowledge and skills into practice, helping you gain valuable hands-on experience.
You can complete your placement at a Pilates Studio or Gym offering Pilates classes near you. Should you have difficulties securing placement, AFA can utilise our Industry Partnerships to assist you in finding a suitable facility and mentor.

Pre-Requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course. However, it is recommended that participants have completed a Fitness Certification, as well as approximately 25 hours of personal Pilates experience/participation, prior to undertaking the Pilates Matwork Instructor Course.
If you haven’t completed prior qualifications or have prior experience, that’s OK. You may find the course a little difficult due to technical terminology and concept, but you’re welcome to enrol. Course Access
This course is self-paced and students will have up to 12 months of course access. After enrolling on the course, students will receive their login details within 2-3 business days (unless requested otherwise).
The recommended course completion time frame is between 3 – 6 months, however as all content and assessments are on-demand, it can be completed quicker.

Sarah conte
With two decades in the Fitness Industry, Sarah’s expertise spans Mat & Reformer instruction, Rehabilitation and Corrective Exercise Prescription. She utilizes this knowledge to create challenging, yet safe Pilates sessions. Her qualifications extend to Remedial Massage, Fitness and Business. With a background in dance, Sarah has been practising Pilates since she was 15. Sarah can be found instructing Pilates at various Group Fitness Studios across Melbourne.
Rebekah strom
Rebekah brings a decade of experience in the fitness sector, starting her career as a Les Mills Instructor before attaining her Certificate III and IV in Fitness and qualifications as a Pilates Matwork Instructor. She is the face behind Ocean Glow Pilates, a venture she launched in 2021 where she instructs beachside Pilates sessions, blending both classical and contemporary exercises with an emphasis on mindful movement.
